Vulnerability

You are already good at being vulnerable. You were good at it since the day you were born.  We may view it as a strength in others but a weakness in ourselves. Vulnerability is tricky.

Everyday Vulnerability

When are you vulnerable during the day? In the morning, is it commuting to work, or perhaps checking social media? All of these activities are in a sense a risk, exposing ourselves to the world, interacting with others.  Opening our hearts to the world.

Your Experience With Vulnerability

The examples above may not seem like much, but for some those activities are hurdles to get over each day. Getting up and getting going can be the hardest part of the day. How do you handle it? You do handle it, sometimes without even knowing! We can think about it as an additional way to encounter love and compassion.

A Helpful Quote About Vulnerability

This quote from Brene Brown is insightful- “The difficult thing is that vulnerability is the first thing I look for in you and the last thing I’m willing to show you. In you, it’s courage and daring. In me, it’s weakness. ” Her very popular Ted Talk can be found here.
