Body Scan for Depression and Anxiety

What is a body scan? How does it help with depression and anxiety?  Joanna Ford Counseling sees women dealing with symptoms of perimenopause & menopause.  Symptoms such as depression and anxiety can make our lives hard and impact our relationships.

Please check out the attached video where I perform a body scan. Ariel Friese interviewed me for her series, The Counselor Chronicles. We discussed depression and anxiety and how it can impact our physical bodies. Checking in with the neck, shoulders, back and other body parts can help increase our awareness. Depression and anxiety can create tight shoulders and neck, an achy lower back, and heavy arms and legs, among other things. When we bring our attention to these areas, we may sense relaxation.

Check out the video, it is short and so helpful!
