What Decreases Your Feelings of Anxiety?

There is something helpful about sharing our experiences, what has worked for one person, may work for another. If not, it is always nice to know we are not alone in the struggle. Personally, I’m thinking a lot about anxiety due to the election. I see a lot of things on social media that are meant to hurt or make someone mad. Politics, as important as it can be, creates anxiety for both sides.

Social Media and Anxiety

Even though politics tend to dominate social media, it doesn’t have to. Some suggestions for decreasing the impact social media has on our lives are:

  • Unfollow certain types of articles, maybe certain people that post political messages. https://www.facebook.com/search/str/help/keywords_top
  • Follow organizations that fill your feed with positive information, perhaps family photos, pictures or videos of cute animals.
  • Close your eyes and inhale! Then exhale slowly.

These are just a few examples of what we can do to decrease our anxiety when it comes to social media. I am sure people have other ideas of how to manage what information reaches them every day. It is something that we should consider managing, because it can lead to feeling anxious, tired and a lack of focus. There is so much to choose from, so make a choice of what feeds you.
